Services We Provide

Speech & Language Evaluation

A comprehensive starting point to celebrate your child’s strengths and identify areas for growth.

What an Evaluation Assesses:

  • Expressive Language: How your child uses words and gestures to communicate.
  • Receptive Language: How your child understands and follows directions.
  • Speech Sound Production: How clearly your child says their sounds.
  • Play Skills: How your child explores, creates new ideas, and interacts with toys and how your child initiates play with others, shares enjoyment, takes turns, and understands the "unspoken rules" of social engagement
  • Social Communication: How your child connects and engages with others.
  • Oral-Motor Skills: The strength and coordination of the muscles used for speech.

Is This for My Child?

We support children who are experiencing:

  • Late Talking: Using fewer words than expected for their age.
  • Vocabulary Needs: Difficulty learning or using new words.
  • Combining Words: Moving from single words to phrases and sentences.
  • Unclear Speech: Difficulty being understood by family or peers.
  • Difficulty Following Directions: Needing extra support to process information.
  • Social Communication Delays: Navigating the "how-to" of social interaction.

Our Therapy Approach:

We don't believe in "drills." We believe in meaningful connection. Our sessions are:

  • Play-Based: We follow your child’s lead to keep them engaged and motivated.
  • Routine-Based: We help you integrate therapy goals into your daily life.
  • Parent Coaching: We empower you with the tools to support your child between sessions.
  • Evidence-Based: Using proven techniques like Hanen: More Than Words to get results.

Pediatric Feeding Evaluation

Specialized assessment for anxious eaters, texture transitions, and oral-motor concerns.

Mealtimes should be about nourishment and connection, not battles and worry. If you find yourself anxious every time you sit down to eat, a specialized feeding evaluation can provide the clarity and safety you need.

Common Concerns We Address:

  • Limited Food Variety: Your child only eats a handful of specific foods.
  • Extreme Picky Eating: Food aversions that go beyond typical developmental stages.
  • Gagging or Choking: Signs of physical or sensory difficulty with certain foods.
  • Texture Transitions: Difficulty moving from purees to solids or lumpy textures.
  • Mealtime Battles: Stress, crying, or refusal during meals.
  • Oral-Motor Delays: Weakness or coordination issues that make chewing difficult.

Feeding Therapy

At Rise2Reach, we believe mealtimes should be about connection, not conflict. We utilize a Responsive Feeding Approach, which shifts the focus away from "making a child eat" and toward understanding their unique skills and needs.

Our goal isn't just to get food into a child's mouth, it's to ensure they have the physical and sensory skills to eat if they want to and if it feels right to their body in that moment.

We define "success" differently than traditional programs:

  • Honoring Autonomy: We respect your child’s right to make choices for their own body. Progress is measured by confidence and comfort, not just the number of bites taken.
  • Focusing on Skill: We look deep to see if a child can eat. We identify the "why" behind the struggle so we can build the necessary skills.
  • Supporting the Whole Child: We look at your child’s health, growth, and relationship with food through an individualized lens, rather than comparing them to a "one-size-fits-all" standard.

By removing the pressure and building internal motivation, we help your child find joy at the table and empower your family to enjoy mealtimes again.

What Therapy Targets:

  • Expanding Food Repertoire: Safely introducing new foods and flavors.
  • Texture Progression: Building the skills to handle more complex textures with ease.
  • Oral-Motor Skill Development: Improving the chewing and tongue movements needed for eating.
  • Positive Mealtime Routines: Removing the stress and pressure from the dinner table.
  • Parent Coaching: Giving you the confidence to carry over progress at every meal.
